The Mitre/Rabbet joint

Today’s tip is about finding ways to hide end grain on the top of your next shelf project. This is a simple joint that uses the 1″ straight bit and the V-Groove bit to make a mitre-rabbet joint. There are three set up’s to make the joinery. Step one: cut the rabbet into the sides of the shelf unit, Step two: cut the mitre on the end of the shelf sides, Step three: cut the matching cut on the top ends.

Symmetrical Pattern Routing

Today’s tip is about using a fixture to do symmetrical routing. The features of the fixture is the pattern, the entry point, pin locators, and the toggle clamps. Please watch the video and remember you don’t need a plan to make this fixture. You need to be able to make 1/2 of the desired pattern and then include the mentioned features to finish this fixture. Watch this tip and then give it a go…and make your first fixture.

One method of cutting Dovetail Joinery…

Here is a sneak peak of the Router Workshop Video Series. In episode 107 we talk about the process of cutting complex joinery with the simple 14 degree 1/2″ dovetail bit. This video is setting up the fixture and dovetail router bit and getting ready to cut a variety of different applications.
