Well the time is soon coming up for our next Live Video Chat and this time we are talking about making boxes. The project is one the most fundamental project used to teach how to use the router. It is a small project that teaches many things about changing router bits, setting up the fence quickly and much more…

We will be discussing the following:

  1. Marking the face side,
  2. The Rabbet Bit,
  3. Figuring depth of cut,

And much more…

For all the woodworkers that have had a chance to watch my first two LVC’s I thank you for the support and encouragement. If you have some friends or relatives that enjoy the same hobby please let them know about our Live Video Chat.

Hold your personal coffee party…

Just 6 hours left….

The project we are going to feature today is a small project that uses the Linear Dovetail joint. Once you understand the joinery methods the next step is to think outside the box and add this joint to larger projects. I have made a sketch of my thoughts about the linear dovetail used on larger projects. I will show this sketch on the live portion of the Video Chat.

We are down to six hours to the video time. If you have any specific questions that you want me to answer please click here and post them within the chat feature of this application.

Thanks to all that joined us in the first live video feed. I really want to thank the participants for going easy on my first live video chat. We had 20 participants so for the first one I think we had decent attendance.

Next on tap is about the Linear Dovetail Joint:

Well this week we are going to be talking about the linear dovetail joint and how to best use this wood joint. We will be talking about the dovetail bit, the simple set up procedure and the start and stop molding procedure. On Thursday the 14th we will be open to receiving a series of your questions as well as your comments. To ask a question we use the chat feature within the live video chat program. You can ask a question anytime from today until the end of the next live video chat. We will collect the asked question throughout the week and prepare to answer each question before the next live video session.

So I have a chance to practice using this new technology I have decided to launch the Thursday night chat session as the starter. This is just me on live video with you in the chat asking the Router Workshop related questions. I will select a number of router related questions from the chat session and answer each question live. I can’t promise that I will be able to answer all questions asked but I will try hard to do so.

Hopefully you will be able to join us. To give this a good try I would like to schedule more than one session to start. Then if it works out I will make this a weekly or biweekly session starting at 6:00 PM CST Thursday night. The advertising of each session will be via our new post email system, which means that each time I post you will get the email about the post. At the end of the session I will post the live video chat recording to the “Live Video Chat” category. It is easy to sign in, you just go to the specific URL and you are signed in.

The first Q and A session will be on this coming Thursday night, which is just 24 hours away. The system can accommodate 40 participants in the live video portion so hopefully you can join us this coming Thursday night at 6:00 PM CST. Click here to see the Live Video Chat Viewer…
