Where to place the safety Guide Pin…

Well today’s question is about the position of the safety Guide Pin. There is really no correct answer to the position of the safety guide pin but it should be to the left and behind the router bit. See the position sketch.
Also remember to not shape pieces that are smaller than the distance from the edge of the safety pin and the pilot bearing on the router bit. You don’t want to get the piece trapped between the router bit and the safety guide pin. This will shoot the trapped piece towards you the operator at a very high speed. One other warning is that you can’t use the safety guide pin with router bits that don’t have a pilot bearing.
Anyways that’s it for today’s post…Rick
Today we are trying something new, it is computer generated voice over.

I do not care for it. difficult to understand.

I can do without the very bad sounding computer voice.
The computer generated voice over needs help. It sounds like Hal and I don’t know what a “rooter” is!
The problem I noticed was not so much that the voice was difficult to understand, but that it was going so fast. If only it could be slowed down a little bit. Also, it translated and spoke the “dot, dot, dot” at the end of your message, which was odd compared to just reading the message.
sounds like my old computer from the 90’s
Terrible sounding and its speaking too fast. why not try a womans voice it may be better to understand (like the one on star trek)
poor audio hard to understand
Sounds disembodied but understandable. Presumably it can be improved upon with further trials.
you need to add more space between words so the voice does not go so fast. What text-to-speech software are you using? Keep at it, you will get it straightened out. It takes lots of time, but will be worth it in the end.
I am using Natural Reader 9.0 and the first voice was Microsoft Sam, I have 2 additional voice engines that I am going to try on my next post. Main reason for trying this is to get a system that will read my words for me and it is something new to try.
Thanks for all your comments,
Rick
I’ll take Rick or Dad or no voice!!!

I find that it talks too fast and not distinctly. Some of the words are blurred and when you combine that with the speed of speech, I find a lot of it hard to understand
What a GREAT job you have! You get to figure out stuff, work with computers, and do woodworking too. The computer generated voice was at least fun, both to hear (for me) and to do (for you). Keep it coming!
The only thing worse than the computer generated mis pronuciations are Rick’s sketches.
And Paul the only thing worse the either of the above is your lack skill when it comes to spelling, right.
I was surprised to learn that instead of using a router bit as I always have, that this calls for the use of a rooter bit,, that is used to clean drains.
I’ll have to buy one now – Can it be manual or does it have to be powered?
